The Art of Seeing
From Sight to Insight

ArtMed inSight trains perception for insight. Better perceptual skills help medical practionners and all growth-seeking professionals enhance their decision-making, communication and creative problem-solving skills.

To increase my observation skills (goals) and do something creative; these sessions exceeded my expectations.”

ArtMed inSight’s programs have been the subject of research by both Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Such studies have demonstrated marked gains in perceptual skills, which resulted in increased in reflection, observation, self-awareness, creativity, and stress reduction for the individuals who participated in its programs.

Training perception through art

Our work uses structured engagement with artworks as a way to train perception for insight. Through guided looking, description, and discussion as well as hands-on art, writing, and observational exercises, we slow down visual experience and examine in real time how meaning is formed in what is seen.

Perception is not passive. It is structured, trained, and shaped through attention.

Careful observation is the foundation of insight. You learn to observe closely, notice what others miss, and ground your thinking in evidence rather than assumption.

See Differently
Insight deepens when we can see differently. You learn to reframe what you observe, expanding creative thinking while strengthening empathetic intelligence. You consider multiple perspectives to generate more original, nuanced understanding.

See Broadly
You enlarge your seeing by learning how to shift seamlessly between close-up detail and a big picture view. You build greater self-awareness, helping you understand how your inner state shapes what you perceive.

Fantastic course. Informative and reformative

Programs

Intensive (Group Program)

A 35-hour immersive program in perceptual training through art.

This format supports sustained attention over time in a shared setting, allowing for extended observation, guided discussion, and an iterative refinement of perception. The emphasis is not on theory, but on practice—learning to see more, differently and broadly by noticing subtle details, questioning immediate interpretations, and refining how meaning is constructed.

The training takes place in an active environment, which builds perceptual abilities in addition to isolated insight. Participants develop a disciplined way of perceiving that reshapes how they think, decide, and create. The result is a lasting shift in awareness that extends into every aspect of life, from decision-making and communication to creative problem-solving

The intensive is offered in cohort format and can be delivered for individual participants or organizational groups.

The 1:1 sessions help you:
- Apply structured observation to your specific challenges
- Identify perceptual patterns in your thinking and communication
- Examine assumptions in live, real-world contexts
- Translate insight into practical applications

This format allows you to see how perceptual patterns show up in your work/daily life and provides tools for a direct application of perception-based solutions.

Format: 6 sessions × 90 minutes
