Enhancing Perception
for Increased Wellbeing

ArtMed inSight’s Wellbeing programs use the deliberate use of visual perception and attentional training to support wellbeing and reduce everyday stress. Drawing on our specific perceptual approaches to looking at art, participants learn practical ways of directing, shifting, and sustaining attention as a means of interrupting (habitual patterns of thought and bringing greater awareness to the present moment). Develops perceptual awareness, that is a key…"The course uses structured perceptual exercises to explore the relationship between attention, visual processing, emotional response, and subjective experience." Learning through perception.

art and perceptual practice as practical means of developing attention, awareness, and strategies for managing everyday stress.

Through our sessions, participants explore present-moment attention, sensory perception, emotional awareness, perspective-taking, pleasure and restoration, and the development of sustainable self-care practices.

Each session combines close observation of artworks with discussion, structured looking exercises, sensory awareness, reflective writing, and hands-on creative activities including drawing and creative writing. These exercises are designed to encourage curiosity, perceptual flexibility, emotional awareness, and focused attention. No previous art or creative experience is required.

emphasizes the process of looking and responding. Participants will explore how changing what and how we attend to can influence our experience of an image, and consider how these perceptual skills can be transferred into everyday situations where stress, distraction, or mental overload occur.

The course is grounded in experiential learning and perceptual practice, rather than requiring participants to adopt any particular belief or approach. It is intended as a creative wellbeing course rather than a form of therapy.
